BRISBANE, Australia – July 1, 2025 – ScaleFibre has launched SmartRIBBON™, a new range of compact, ultra-high-fibre-count optical fibre cables engineered for duct and conduit installations in dense metro, transport and access environments. The range supports configurations up to 3456 fibres, offering network builders a flexible, scalable backbone for fibre-dense deployments.
The launch reflects the depth of ScaleFibre’s ongoing collaboration with leading global fibre and cable manufacturers. By working closely with specific top-tier partners, ScaleFibre is able to deliver solutions built on proven core technology while adapting to evolving deployment needs in the field.
SmartRIBBON™ uses a rollable ribbon construction based on intermittently bonded fibres arranged in 12-fibre ribbons. This structure enables both high-density mass fusion splicing and single-fibre fusion splicing. The innovative completely dry design enables efficient preparation while maintaining the handling benefits of tubed cables, incorporating deformable polymer buffer tubes to protect the fibres while allowing for easy routing and termination.
Optimised for high duct utilisation in space-constrained environments. Despite supporting thousands of fibres, their outer diameter remains compact, helping carriers and contractors make full use of limited conduit real estate.
